The CLP-700 series is Yamaha’s most impressive digital recreation of a grand piano to date. With its new Grand Expression Modeling system, how you interact with the keys reflects how a grand piano would respond, opening up more expressive opportunities. With detailed recreations of the luxurious Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos, and an authentic-feeling GrandTouch keyboard, the Yamaha CLP-775 recreates the sound and experience of playing masterfully crafted grand pianos in a smaller, and more affordable format.
The sounds in the CLP-775 are modelled on the exquisite Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos. Most of us can only dream of playing incredibly crafted instruments such as these, but the CLP-700 recreates that tone at a far more accessible price. The CLP-700 series has faithfully recreated the sound of these pianos, taking care to capture the full dynamic range and tonal variations they are capable of producing. Thanks to the Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) you can even hear the sympathetic sounds that result from overlapping string resonances in a grand piano. There’s also binaural sampling which gives you an atmospheric, in-the-room sound while playing with headphones.
A crucial part of recreating the grand piano experience is, of course, the feel of the keys. The GrandTouch keyboard in the CLP-775 has been carefully designed to reproduce the feel and responsiveness of a grand piano. The 88-key Linear Graded Hammer-action keyboard recreates the feel of a grand piano from the varying weights of the keys, to the balance, to how quickly the key returns to rest. The keys themselves are made from synthetic ivory and ebony which feel like their natural counterparts, tactile and textured to prevent your finger from slipping. To complete the authentic feel the white keys are made from wood which you can see when you press down the keys.
