Yamaha U-Series

The Yamaha U series consists of two models, the U1 and the U3, both of which are incredibly popular with teachers, music schools, professional musicians, and music lovers alike. They share a precise, responsive touch and full-bodied tone that comes from a meticulous attention to detail and a focus on the highest quality of components during manufacture.

Built in Yamaha’s Japanese factory, the U1 piano is 121cm in height and features a high-grade spruce soundboard and Japanese strings. The U3 is a taller piano with a larger cabinet, standing at 131cm. The larger soundboard and acoustic chamber give it additional power and projection, which combines beautifully with the expressive control of the key action.

In addition to the standard models, both the U1 and U3 are available as Silent pianos, a system that incorporates digital piano features and allows the piano to be played silently at any time through headphones. The Disklavier model goes one step further, allowing the soundboard of the piano to act as a speaker, meaning the piano can be played at lower volumes without the need for headphones at all.

Because of the popularity of the U Series, there is a strong second-hand market for these models. At J G Windows, we regularly stock U1 and U3 pianos which have been reconditioned in the Yamaha factory itself, and are supplied with a Yamaha certificate of authenticity.
