Ozark 2104G 5 String Banjo, inc Gigbag

The Ozark 2104G is built well and of good quality. It is modelled on the pre-war design with a price tag that represents amazing value. The pot assembly is a sturdy one-piece die-cast shell and flange.

The Pot Assembly… The rim is built from cast aluminium and is a one piece construction 281mm (11 ½ “) the tone ring and flange are integral with the rim. and is fitted with 30 chrome plated bracket hooks to give firm and even tension on the tension hoop. A single bracketed, chrome plated armrest is fitted. The tailpiece is the ‘Elton’ type, adjustable for height via a chrome plated thumb screw. All metal fittings are heavily chrome plated to a very high standard.

A milky 11” diameter Remo ‘weatherking’ plastic head is fitted (top side coated) along with an ebony tipped 15.87mm (5/8”) maple bridge. Four chrome-plated resonator thumbscrews are provided to attach the resonator. The detachable resonator is constructed from maple with an attractive mahogany brown veneer. It has a convex back and is fully bound in ivory colour binding. The resonator is stained in the pre-war ‘Gibson-style’ brown mahogany and is clear lacquered and highly polished.

The Neck Assembly… The neck is attached to the pot assembly with a single lag bolt and a single coordinating rim rod which give you the facility to alter the ‘action’ of banjo to suit your particular style of playing relative to the strings of your choice. The neck is constructed from mahogany, it is also fitted with an internal adjustable steel truss rod.

The rosewood 22 fret fingerboard is fully bound to match the resonator and is fitted with a friction 5th string peg at the 5th fret. The fingerboard is inlaid with pearl dot inlays and small black side dot position markers at the 3rd, 7th, 10th, 12th,15th and17th frets. The nickel silver fretwork is perfectly positioned, rounded and polished for smooth playing. The nut is precisely cut and filed for a comfortable string action at the first position. The peg head (headstock) is black faced and inlaid with a pearl ‘Ozark’ script logo.

A white edged black plastic ‘bell’ shape truss rod cover is fitted. A set of good quality side facing ‘guitar style’ geared tuners are fitted to give positive and trouble free tuning. The tuners are chrome plated to match the hardware of the pot assembly. The neck is stained, clear lacquered and highly polished to match the resonator.
