The first thing you’ll notice about the Ashbury AU-34 series is how very, very pretty they are.  We are not usually ones to judge a uke by its colour but these instruments are stunning.  The richly grained kao wood, the curly maple binding and the shining Abalone purfling and rosette all encased beneath a carefully applied high gloss finish.  Photos can’t convey just how eye catching these ukes are in the flesh.

Looks aside, that kao wood is all solid, top, back and sides producing that coveted Hawaiian tone, soft but not too soft, sweet but not too sweet and as clear a North Pacific Ocean wave.

The attention to detail carries through into all aspects of the build quality, these ukes are built to be played and adored for decades.  Complete with a fitted hardcase for extra protection.

Ashbury have been constructing and distributing quality folk instruments since 1996. They have a variety of factories in both Vietnam and Indonesia as well as China. The brand works with the long established luthier Phil Davidson to design and create each model which is tested and checked to produce an instrument that is both easy to play and provides a high quality sound. Their range covers all folk fretted instruments such as banjo, mandolin and bouzouki from beginner to professional level. Their handmade instruments, constructed in Vietnam, are created from the finest grade woods and made to exacting standards to produce some of the finest folk instruments in the market today.
