Music between pathos and passion: that´s the Pathétique Sonata in C minor. Beethoven´s autograph manuscript has disappeared, and only a few sketches have survived. As the principal source for our newedition we therefore consulted the original print (Vienna: Franz Anton Hoffmeister, 1799), thoroughly checking it and comparing it with subsequent impressions.
