A delightful DVD of Prokofiev’s universally beloved “musical tale“, brought to life by human actors in a fairytale world inhabited by Muppet-like puppets.

Pop star Sting lends his voice to a Sting puppet for the witty, enlightening commentary that guides the viewer through this charming suite. Also included is the Italian version with commentary by Oscar-Award-winner Roberto Benigni (Life is beautiful), acted out by a Benigni puppet.

For Maestro Claudio Abbado, who can also be seen in the film, this project has been a labour of love – his lively reading of the score is recorded with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Also included are Prokofiev’s “Classical” Symphony and Overture on Hebrew Themes.
