As with so many alto saxophonists who forged their careers during the Fifties, Julian "Cannonball" Adderley was influenced by Charlie Parker. But it is to his credit that soon after he forged a style which became his very own. As has often been noted, there was a joyous quality about his playing that very few of his contemporaries could or chose to match.
